The Top Supplier Retail Award recognizes outstanding digital solutions for the retail sector. The solution developed for the customer Pier14 fulfills this requirement by convincingly integrating enterprise resource planning, digital customer interaction, intelligent inventory management and smart workflows.
Pier14 has established itself as a premium destination for fashion, beauty and accessories on the german Baltic Sea coast - with a unique blend of lifestyle, culinary experiences and shopping. In the 16 stores in Heringsdorf, Zinnowitz and Kühlungsborn, visitors are delighted with first-class interiors, fine food, an outstanding fashion presentation and excellent customer service. The mix of digital interaction and customer-friendly omnichannel processes is provided by in-depth process and data integration across the entire store network, based on a seamless syspro RFID infrastructure.
The award-winning Pier14 solution focuses on the optimal management of success-critical factors such as product availability, customer experience, quality of advice, service offering, omnichannel integration and process efficiency. The solution provides state-of-the-art answers to these challenges. The syspro RFID infrastructure has a key part here: it collects and connects real-time data from all stores, workflows, inventory changes and transactions – and it maps store processes easily and conveniently on employees' mobile equipment.
The availability of goods and the inventory management ensure that customers actually find what they want to buy. This requires many simple and complex processes in article logistics. For example, the Pier14 solution reduces the time and effort spent by employees on receiving goods by up to 95%. Item movements in the store or item transfers to other stores are tracked in real time so that each article can be identified at any time. Instead of barcodes, RFID tags are used for labelling, which allows contactless reading and centimetre-precise localization in the space. Complete store inventories can be carried out during ongoing sales at a rate of up to 50,000 items per hour. And every inventory change is immediately transmitted to the enterprise resource planning systems.
The customer experience is shaped by digital, interactive terminals on the one hand and personal service on the other. Touchscreens are used to present additional products and information on the sales floor, creating a significant up- and cross-selling effect. Thanks to their handhelds, the store staff are always mobile and informed about their products in real time – and they have much more time for the customer thanks to simplified inventory management. Desired items can be found by handheld in every corner of the store or picked quickly and directly from other stores and stocks. And queues at the checkout are shorter because thanks to RFID tagging, the entire purchase is recorded simultaneously instead of being scanned one by one.
Omnichannel sales – the parallel, integrated operation of both online shops and physical stores – is an important part of Pier14's business strategy. The integration increases availability on all channels because every item is available regardless of its actual location. Online orders trigger mobile article picking via RFID handheld in the store in real time. Delivery notes as well as shipping and returns labels are created instantly. And synchronization between store, eCommerce Cloud and ERP system runs automatically.
Pier14 has been working with syspro for several years and has consistently advanced the technological integration of its stores and article logistics during this time. With the current status of the solution, the company has created a new benchmark for the retail sector.
