In the course of digitizing its retail stores, the Haibach-based textile chain offers its customers in the stores in Erfurt, Limburg, Rüsselsheim and Mutterstadt extended services through the Interactive Fitting Room project, which is being implemented with the help of the two IT solution providers Bütema AG and syspro GmbH.
The project, which is based on the connection between RFID and digital signage, includes several components:
A self-service system is available to customers in the fitting room. Via the 23-inch touch display, they can view item information such as product images, colors, sizes, cross-selling items, and availability. Complete outfit suggestions are also displayed to the customer. When not in use, the self-service system plays a digital signage promotion.
The customer can also use a button to call an employee for assistance, who receives a push notification via an iPod equipped with the InStore Assistant (ISA). Via the ISA, the employee can also call up items and view availability, outfits and cross-selling items.
A tablet installed in the cubicle area also shows the customer advisor whether a fitting room is occupied, free, or only occupied with garments that can be put away. It also shows how many garments are in the fitting room. This is made possible by equipping the items with RFID tags and the changing rooms with ultrasonic sensors.
Roland Leitz, Head of IT at Adler Modemärkte, played a key role in the introduction of RFID and the installation of the interactive fitting rooms: "Technological innovations have the potential to arouse additional interest among customers, make shopping even more convenient and ultimately generate a corresponding increase in revenue for ADLER. They cannot and should not replace personal advice, but they are a useful addition."
